There are many fine restaurants that offers a wide selection of authentic Arabic, European and Eastern cuisine, some of the main Jordanian traditional dishes are:

Mansaf (a whole stewed lamb with cooked yoghurt sauce served on a bed of rice), Musakhan (chicken with onions, olive oil, pine seeds and seasoning, cooked in an oven on a thick loaf of Arabic bread), Maglouba (meat or chicken and vegetable stew served with rice), and Shish Kabab (pieces of lamb, marinared chicken and patties of minced and spiced lamb meat all cooked over a charcoal fire with onions and tomatoes).

Sweets are common in Jordan like: Kunafa (shredded wheat over goat cheese baked in syrup), Baklawa (layered flaky pastry, filled with nuts and drenched in honey), Kullaj, and Awwama.

Coffee is an important symbol of hospitality and it is common to be offered.

Alcohol is served in most restaurants and bars except during Ramadan (can be served in rooms).

Note: The Holy month of Ramadan is respected by abstention from food or drink during daylight.
